Frequently Asked Questions

What is Wordfarer?

Wordfarer is an interactive text adventure. You pick or invent a world and a character, then type whatever you want to do in plain language — and the story plays along, building through chapters, with characters who remember you, all the way to a real ending.

How is it different from a choose-your-own-adventure?

You are not picking from a short list of options — you type anything you like and the tale responds. And unlike an endless sandbox, each story has real shape: a plot that builds to a genuine ending, a world that stays consistent, and characters who remember how you have treated them.

Do my choices actually matter?

Yes. What you change stays changed — an item you use or destroy stays gone, a character you cross remembers it — and your choices carry real weight, including the chance of a fatal turn, with a gentle "a moment before…" to step back if it does.

Is Wordfarer powered by AI?

Yes — the stories are generated, so no two playthroughs are the same. We have put the effort into making them coherent and satisfying: a world that stays consistent and a plot that actually reaches an ending, rather than into the technology itself.

What platforms will Wordfarer be on?

Wordfarer is in development for Android and iOS.

How much will it cost?

You will be able to start playing for free, and Wordfarer has no ads.

Who makes Wordfarer?

Wordfarer is made by Jolly Good Apps, a UK-based independent software studio.
